Learning And Development Officer

Seven Education is looking for a Learning and Development Officer to work in the Chatham area. 

The role:

The post is key to support the operation and ongoing development of the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership (and successor arrangements), a multi-agency body responsible for coordinating local safeguarding practice, and monitoring the effectiveness of work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. The post will actively promote partnership working across the various agencies, through promoting, developing and delivery high quality multi-agency learning and development activities, projects and training. The post is responsible for coordinating the statutory processes for child deaths, managing the day to day operation of MSCP sub groups and managing the multi-agency case review process. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the MSCP members to develop and monitor the delivery of the vision and strategic priorities of the MSCP
  • Manage the day to day operation of the MSCP sub groups including development of effective delivery plans against the agreed priorities, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and best practice
  • Manage the MSCP Project Support Officer and MSCP Apprentice and oversee the effective administration of MSCP Board and sub groups
  • Coordinate statutory processes for child deaths and coordinate the work of the Child Death Overview Panel including the timely delivery of the Child Death Annual Report.
  • To lead on the development and management of a multi-agency learning and improvement framework to support the evaluation of the effectiveness of multi-agency arrangements to safeguard children
  • To develop and coordinate the multi-agency case review process including local child safeguarding practice reviews, lessons learned reviews and multi-agency case file audits to learn lessons and improve practice
  • To work with the MSCP Training Officer to develop multi-agency safeguarding training reflecting lessons learned from case reviews and to deliver training as required
  • Link with other multi agency strategic groups and represent the MSCP as required and appropriate
  • To monitor, interpret and report changes and developments in government policy, guidance and research in relation to safeguarding children which may affect multi-agency working
  • To draft and present reports to strategic management across the partnership
  • Consider ways in which the views of children and young people may inform and influence the work of the MSCP.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree/professional qualification in a relevant area would be desirable
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience working with children and families in a statutory setting
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with access to a car + business car insurance
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
