Seven Resourcing is working with Nottingham City Council to recruit a Temporary Light Vehicle Mechanic to work in their commercial and operations department.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POST FOR 3 MONTHS NOT A PERMANENT CONTRACT.

Pay rate is £24 per hour.

Light Vehicle Mechanics work 37 hours per week with workshop operational hours from 07:00am to 17:00pm. The workshops operate an alternate week 2 shift system as follows: Early Shift – 07:00am to 15:00pm Monday to Thursday and 07:00am to 14.30pm Friday Late Shift – 09:00am to 17:00pm Monday to Thursday and 09:00am to 16.30pm Friday.

Job Purpose:

To maintain, inspect, repair and test Class 4, 5 (light) and 7 vehicles for both internal and external customers.

All work must be compliant with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Council’s Operator’s Licence, taxi licensing legislation, DVSA requirements and internal Council policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To maintain, inspect, repair and test Class 4, 5 (light) and 7 vehicles for both internal and external customers

Carry out fault diagnosis on complex hydraulic and electrical systems. Use diagnostics equipment and Autodata to quickly diagnose and fix faults.

To carry out welding, fabrication and body repairs as required.

To attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and effect permanent or running repairs as required.

To prepare and decommission vehicles – fitting and removing a diverse range of ancillary equipment, accessories and livery.

To work as a team to ensure Council and workshop objectives are met.

To carry out class 4 and 7 MOT and taxi inspections.

To ensure that all associated records are updated promptly, accurately and effectively using the fleet management software system.

To ensure that all Health and Safety policies, practices and procedures in respect of the workshop environment are adhered to and ensure that all work areas are kept in a safe and clean condition.

To attend training courses linked to PDR reviews and service needs.

To cover callout duties on a rota basis.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles, or equivalent
  • Qualified to VOSA standards for MOT class 4 and 7 inspections (desirable)
  • Willing to train to obtain an MOT testers qualification for class 4 and 7 vehicles
  • Full driving licence with category B entitlement
  • Class D1 licence (desirable)
  • Experience: Experience of working with all aspects of light vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Experienced MOT tester (desirable)
  • Experience in welding (desirable)
  • Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
