Local Welfare Provision Administrator

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Local Welfare Provision Administrator to work in South Shields. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £11.69 – £14.00 per hour (PAYE and umbrella payment options available).

The role:

To support for the provision and administration of a responsive Local Welfare Provision Service in relation to residents in the borough of South Tyneside, including work with those who have debt issues, withdrawal of benefits, in crisis with no access to basic daily needs and those affected financially by coronavirus. You will also help and support residents to sustain their homes and settle within the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

      Process grant applications and make a decision based on policy and criteria as to whether you will award an applicant.

You will administer any grant awards made.

Be the first point of contact for the Welfare Support Service

Ensure all initial enquiries and requests are dealt with promptly or referred in the most appropriate manner and method

Respond to all contacts in a polite and courteous manner and obtain all necessary and available information at point of contact.

Work in partnership with DWP, teams within South Tyneside Homes, South Tyneside Council, NHS Track and Trace, HMRC, and other relevant agencies to resolve applications referred to you

Provide a reactive service where a crisis has occurred.

To be fully up to date and conversant in relevant legislation, policies and procedures in regards to Local Welfare Provision and our Coronavirus hardship fund and be able to communicate these to residents, colleagues, voluntary organisations, and members.

Deliver a seamless service to residents, being a single point of contact, where possible, though operating an efficient referral system to colleagues, or third sector agencies where this is unavoidable.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: 2 years references and proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
