Maintanence Supervisor

Seven Resourcing is working with Ringway Services to recruit a Maintanence and Response Supervisor for their service in Devon.

JOB TITLE:      Supervisor (RIS HE SW)

REPORTING TO:         Area Manager

Hours 40

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITES:

–    Divisional

o    With the Area Manager participate in the formulation of detailed Team objectives and policies 

o    With the Management Team ensure the effective and efficient implementation of Highways England’s policies and achievement of the Highways England’s objectives, including financial ones

o    To assist in ensuring the Teams services are responsive to customer needs and that equal opportunity and Health & Safety issues are identified and addressed effectively

o    To assist in ensuring effective external and internal working relationships are established and maintained with organisations and agencies relevant to the work of the Highways team.    

o    To ensure effective and accessible communication with staff, service users, the general public and others as appropriate 

–    Functional

o    To be responsible for the planning, control of works, and the supervision of all the work force allocated to him/her and maintain discipline and efficiency within the labour force, and for determining the type and quantity of plant and vehicles on site. 

o    To organise all works in such a way as to ensure that it is carried out within the costs and resources allocated and to achieve the profit levels required.

o    To assist the Area Manager with the hire, organisation and supervision of contractors employed to assist or supplement direct labour and the hire, organisation and control or supervision (as applicable) of plant and vehicles. 

o    To manage the vehicles and drivers allocated to him/her and to participate in the legal, safe and effective operation

o    To participate in the organisation and control of work programmes and in the monitoring the use of   resources allocated and employed in direct labour against pre-set targets to facilitate the effective execution of work. 

o    To participate in the organisation and control of labour (both direct and sub-contract) in emergency and winter maintenance operations, both during and outside normal working hours

o    To participate in the identification of training needs and maintain discipline and efficiency within the labour force.

o    To ensure that the necessary work records, time sheets, overtime and travel claims etc. are properly certified and submitted in respect of work undertaken by the work force under his/her control

o    To ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, associated codes of practice and policies

o    To be generally responsible for security arrangements in respect of materials, plant and vehicles on site or at depots. 

o    Ensuring that materials, vehicles, plant and equipment delivered to site are to specifications.

o    Checking standard and quality of work, sorting out problems on site as they arise

o    To carry out such other duties as are required and as are commensurate with the grade of the post

    

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

–    Knowledge & Experience 

The Post Holder should have some experience in the control and organisation of a direct labour force working in the Maintenance and response field. Preference will be given to persons who have successfully completed basic training courses, and have experience in all aspects of maintenance and response on high speed roads

–    Knowledge of Papyrus CPA and Sap

–    CSCS

–    SSSTS

–    12ABC&D

–    Driving licence

–    MS Excel skills

–    MS Outlook Skills

–    Client /customer facing skills and experience

The Post Holder should have experience and understanding of activity and resource costs, with an understanding of budgets

The Post Holder will have line management experiences including how to utilise workforce plan and motive and engage with staff. 

The Post Holder will also be expected to undertake any training necessary for the post and ensure that the quantity and quality of their work is of the highest professional standard

–    Special Notes or Conditions

The Post Holder must be contactable outside normal working hours

The Post Holder will be required to participate in the rota for out of hours emergency response and winter maintenance activities

He/she will respond appropriately in the event of emergencies arising at any time

The Post Holder will initially be based in the central but may be required to work from any location in the RIS HE SW area

Overtime is worked at various levels during the year, but more predominantly during the winter period.
