MCA/DOLS TEAM MANAGER – DEPRIVATION OF LIBERTY (DOLS) TEAM – ADULT SOCIAL CARE

Seven Social Care is looking for a MCA/DoLS TEAM MANAGER in Hammersmith and Fulham

The role:

The role holder will be the lead professional for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Mental Capacity (MCA) for London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and that requests for authorisation of deprivation of liberty are completed in a timely and compliant way.

At this level the role holder will be more autonomous. They will demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk, striking a balance between support and control, liaising with a wide range of professionals, including more senior levels.

The role holder will actively promote wellbeing and independence and ensure that individuals, carers and families have a clear understanding of the DoLS and MCA process and support where required. They will also ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation when using advocacy services and carrying out reviews, including mental capacity assessments.

They will also be prepared to train as Best Interest Assessor (BIAs) to support the local authority in meeting its statutory duties in regard to depriving people of their liberty under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Roles at this level provide a professional social work, occupational therapy and other support to individuals, children their families and carers living in, or ordinary residents of Hammersmith and Fulham in line with the requirements of current, relevant, national legislation and local policies and procedures.

Using professional judgement employ a range of interventions promoting choice, control and independence. They demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk, striking a balance between support and control, liaising with a wide range of professionals, including more senior levels.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Social work staff working in Adult Social Care are based in either:

 

    The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team which provides a central point for all London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham DoLS Applications. The Team is responsible for co-ordinating and managing DoLS assessments and reviews.

 

    The Safeguarding Team (MASH) which provides a central point for safeguarding adult concerns in H&F.

 

    The Community Response and Reablement Team which provides information, advice, community social work, occupational therapy and reablement services for new people in the community.

 

    The Community Independence and Wellbeing Team which provides community social work and occupational therapy for existing people living in a range of care and support settings.

 

    The Hospital Team providing 7 days 8:00am – 8:00pm social work and social care support to individuals, carers and families involved in discharge from hospital, or in

 

    Community Teams for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs

 

    They will be required to work flexibly and will be supported to do this with mobile IT equipment and hot desk facilities in all offices across the borough.
