Mental Health Social Worker – AMHP

Seven Social Care are seeking a qualified and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker – Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for a position in Hammersmith, UK. The ideal candidate will have robust knowledge of mental health legislation and community resources, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to individuals struggling with mental health issues.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess and engage clients through interviews and observations, seeking to understand their unique needs, challenges, and areas for growth.

2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on initial assessments, client feedback, and ongoing observation.

3. Advocate for clients in various settings, including mental health tribunals and multidisciplinary team meetings, to ensure they receive the resources and support they need.

4. Provide crisis intervention as necessary, employing de-escalation skills and coordinating with other health professionals.

5. Prepare comprehensive written reports and maintaining accurate case notes that demonstrate adherence to legal, ethical, and professional standards.

6. Collaborate with other social care and health care professionals to deliver effective care.

7. Engage in continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and best practice guidelines, including the Mental Health Act.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. A valid and current AMHP qualification.

2. Experience working in a similar role, preferably within the NHS.

3. Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention and risk assessment.

4. Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act and current mental health legislation, regulations, and guidelines in the UK.

5. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a diverse range of clients, their families, and other health care professionals.

6. Excellent communication, report writing and case management skills.

7. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a large caseload effectively and efficiently.

8. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality when dealing with vulnerable individuals.

9. Evidence of continuing professional development within the scope of mental health social work.

The post holder will contribute to providing an essential service to vulnerable adults within the community. Successful applicants will be expected to provide reliable, applicable, and compassionate support to clients and their families, while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
