Mental Health Support Worker

Seven Social Care is working with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to recruit a Mental Health Support Worker.

Monday – Friday 37 hours per week.

£12.14 per hour umbrella.

Job Purpose:

To assist more senior staff in the Woodside Team with their work with service users, taking a particular responsibility for the delivery of community-based activities and telephone support, designed to meet individual needs.

Duties:

To work with service users who are experiencing/recovering from mental health difficulties, within a structured programme, which addresses the needs of the person and is formulated by the case worker and the service user in a setting of negotiation.

To deliver therapeutic, leisure, skills training and other activities which contribute to the programme of the centre.

Assist Day Care Staff in the implementation and delivery of programmes to suit both individuals and groups of service users.

Provide verbal and written reports for a variety of purposes, and to assist in the maintenance of records of service users’ progress and behaviour in line with the Centre and departmental requirements.

To have a close liaison with other members of the team and participate in joint work as and when appropriate.

Under supervision, and if requested to actively participate in reviews, case conferences and individual support plans etc. where decisions made about future service delivery, and where learning objectives will be determined.

At all times to promote and encourage personal development, independence and integration, including when appropriate, properly planned and supported activities which may include an element of risk taking.

To participate in various Centre and departmental meetings, working parties, seminars etc. as required

To actively participate in informal and formal training courses.

To have regard at all times to the comfort, wellbeing, self-respect and dignity of all service users, and to promote the aims of the Centre and wider Division in all activities.

To participate actively, positively and constructively in regular supervision and report and problems/difficulties to management as a matter of course.

To undertake such other duties as may fall within the purview of the post, as and when directed, and in particular to assist, if necessary, for the safety/wellbeing of the service user, or in the interest of the department, in other duties as may be required in particular circumstances.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ in Social/Health Care
  • Experience: 2+ years working with children as a Support Worker
  • Compliance: Up to date Passport and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
