Occupational Therapist Senior – Childrens Therapy Team

Seven Social Care is looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to fill an exclusive opportunity in Leeds

The role:

The Role available is within the Children’s Occupational Therapy team working in the Child Health and Disability Service in Leeds.

You will play a key role in reducing the barriers experienced by Children and Young People with a Disability in their own homes. As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will carry carry out assessments with Children from 0-18 who have complex disabilities including those with Physical Disabilities, ASD and /or Learning Disabilities. Following assessment you will make recommendations for minor /major adaptations identified as necessary and appropriate to meet needs. Provision of a range of specialist equipment will also be recommended where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Carrying out Occupational Therapy assessments of people with complex needs. Developing, implementing and managing planned recommendations which promote positive change

Carrying out safe functional assessments, giving physical assistance where necessary and handling equipment.

  • Applying a high level of effective written and verbal communication and passing information accurately and concisely with a range of partners and disabled people, carers and colleagues
  • Dealing constructively with, and exercising assertiveness in appropriate situations when working with individuals, families, carers and other agencies and negotiating, challenging and managing conflict where necessary.
  • Assessing the needs of and working with individuals and groups using a person centred approach

 

Applicant Requirements:

You will have a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and a special interest in Paediatrics. Experience working with children and families would be an advantage. Experience in the provision of specialist equipment, major adaptations and moving and handling is essential.

Appropriate Occupational Therapy qualification Degree/Diploma

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
