Planner/Senior Planner

Seven Social Care is looking for a Senior Planner to assist in the councils Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment, including site surveys, write ups, and engagement with statutory stakeholders. This role is paying £28.09 PAYE, or £35.35 umbrella.

The role:

Member of an Area Planning Team dealing with all aspects of development management and responsible to the Area Planning Officer. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of work involved in the preparation of Local Development Documents and other planning documents produced by the council.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • The processing of planning applications involving the receipt and initial checking, the carrying out of consultations, negotiations and site inspections and the drafting of reports for Committee and delegated decisions.
  • The preparation of planning appeal statements.
  • Giving advice by letter, by telephone and in person to the general public and potential applicants on the need for planning permission, undertaking discussions/negotiations and the application of Council policy to proposals prior to submission of applications, and on more general matters such as policies contained in the Local Plan/Local Development Framework.
  • Liaising and working with the Planning Enforcement Team.
  • Various other duties including dealing with correspondence, checking Building Regulation applications for the need for planning permission, and answering additional questions on Local Land Charges Searches.
  • Postholders on grade 8 will be expected to attend committee and public inquiries when required and deputise for the Area Planning Officer in their absence.
  • To undertake such other duties as may from time to time be allocated by the Area Planning Officer or Development Control Manager.

 

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

        Degree in a related social science and working towards or having a degree in town planning or equivalent qualification with exemption from RTPI examinations

Experience:  Experience working within a similar role

Compliance: RTW in the UK with no restrictions

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
