Seven Resourcing is working with Herefordshire County Council to recruit for a     Press and Publicity Officer for their Children’s Services.

£20.56 per hour (umbrella)

12 Month contract – possibility of going permanent after this period.

The Corporate Communications Team are looking to recruit a Press and Publicity Officer to work with Children’s Services leading on all communication activity relating to the Improvement journey.   This role will be fixed term, initially for 12 months, however there is potential that this may become permanent depending on future needs. This will be reviewed at the end of the fixed term contract. 

Job Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a local authority improvement journey and experience first-hand a significant change and transformation programme within the council over the next year. Given the intervention from the Government, this is a high profile position which focuses on the Council’s number one priority. 

Duties:

The role will lead on all improvement communication, focusing on internal and external key messages, engagement and participation activity as well as targeted promotional and campaign projects.

The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience with a flair for using a range of communication channels to suit all audiences.

The role requires an innovative and creative flair, with a keen eye for nailing the details and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

An appreciation of the confidential and sensitive nature of social care practice is essential as is a commitment to a collaborative and restorative approach with local children, young people and families. 

The candidate will be well supported by the existing Corporate Communications Team and work very closely with the Children’s Service Director for Improvement.

Relationships with the Directorate and Corporate Leadership Teams will be critical as will building and maintaining internal and external relationships with all key stakeholders.

This role will help to drive forward the Council’s commitment to delivering high class communications.

  • Experience: Relevant Experience
  • Compliance: Up to date HPassport and enhanced DBS
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
