Project Support Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Project Support Officer to work on an interim basis with Bristol City Council for an initial period of 6 months.

18.5 Hours Per Week – Flexibility on which days you work.

£261.28 Per Day (PAYE) or £330 Per Day (Umbrella)

The Job-

Working at the heart of a portfolio, programme or project, the PO provides principal support to the Portfolio/Programme/Project Manager, deputising when necessary, to enable successful delivery of the associated objectives.  An active participant and contributor to the team, the PO will operate as the ‘information hub’ in fast paced change environment.  An effective communicator able to liaise with numerous stakeholders and build effective working relationships, the PO will have the ability to apply judgement and experience, to decide the best course of action; this includes the confidence to proactively tackle issues as they arise.

  • Provide the first point of contact for portfolio/programme/project stakeholders offering day-to-day issue resolution, escalating to an appropriate manager as required.
  • Coordinate the portfolio/programme/project reporting process, collating data/information from numerous sources and preparing monthly Highlight Reports (and other key reporting documents as required).
  • Oversee delivery of specific/discreet work packages and/or projects, monitoring budgets for these areas of responsibility.Undertake ad-hoc portfolio/programme/project management duties as required, including deputising as and when necessary.

Applicant Requirements-

  • PRINCE 2 Foundation qualified or another professional project management qualification
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques & tools for the effective management and administration of the portfolio/programme/project lifecycle
  • Comfortable challenging the accepted way of doing things and able to offer new and innovative solutions for consideration to resolve operational problems / improve working practice.
  • Can evidence effective communication skills to a range of different stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to analyse, interpret and present data and information in a meaningful way.
  • Appreciation of basic planning concepts such as critical path, milestones, dependencies, and allocation of resources.
  • Ability to interpret and use financial information to support portfolio/programme/project activities.
  • Experience of resolving issues and identify solutions within agreed timescales.
  • Proficient at dealing with a range of complex issues and competing priorities.
  • Able to manage own workload to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
