Seven Social Care is looking for a Public Health Development Officer at Walsall Borough Council

The role:

The working hours are 37 hours per week. There is flexibility for hours to be condensed and completed over 4 days for the successful candidate.

The role is worked on a Hybrid basis. Currently the team works onsite once per week (occasional other days e.g. launch of Family Hubs or teenage pregnancy strategy).

Rate of pay is £150 a day with flexibility for the ideal candidate.

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Public Health Development Manager overseeing Children and Young People’s Public Health.

Public Health Development Officer duties :

      Work as a member of the Public Health team.

Take a lead on many areas of work identified in the Public Health Work Plan, including supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of work.

Revamping the Children’s Healthy Eating plan, Teenage Pregnancy Strategy and 0-19 Healthy Child services.

Understand and work with local communities to bring about sustained behaviour change and work across the Borough to influence improvement by changing the health and wellbeing impacts of the fundamental determinants of wellbeing; social, economic, commercial, environmental and behavioural.

Main Purpose of job role responsibilities

      Provide specialised advice and expertise on the development and delivery of public health strategy, policy and practice, with particular emphasis on the promotion of health and wellbeing.

Oversee budgets and ensuring they are used in line with their strategic intent, in compliance with Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.

Establish and maintain a range of key stakeholder relationships in order to support the business needs of the organisation and improve the health of the population. The role will help develop the responses to priorities of the department.
