Public Health Practitioner (Social Prescribing)

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Public Health Practitioner (Social Prescribing) to work in Sunderland. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £18.32 – £23.16 (PAYE and Umbrella payment options available).

The role:

The post holder will provide public health expertise within the Council, partner organisations and the wider health and social care system.

The post holder will lead on the development and implementation of an agreed range of public health programmes focusing on health inequalities and the social determinants of health, ensuring a focus across the life course.

Key Responsibilities:

      Work alongside the Consultant in Public Health and the Public Health Lead to deliver on National and Regional plans/ guidance and objectives within both the City Plan and the Sunderland Health and Wellbeing Board Strategy.

Lead the system wide approach to Social Prescribing on behalf of Sunderland City Council, working with internal and external partners to implement the local action plan.

Work with the Living Well Lead to deliver service improvements to ensure the local authority achieves its key performance indicators.

Provide advice and guidance to Council officers and other stakeholders in relation to the priority area and associated commissioned services.

Ensure that evidence-based practice is promoted and that organisations are influenced to deliver and embed a range of public health programmes.

Undertake or contribute to consultation, equity audit, equality impact assessment, service review and evaluation, as required.

Undertake effective community, public and stakeholder engagement activities to inform public health programmes.

Develop and contribute to specifications and contracts for services as required, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure they meet all Council requirements, accurately reflect commissioning intentions and respond to relevant legislation, guidance and procurement regulations.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree, supplemented by public health, health improvement or public health commissioning improvement knowledge, acquired through training, courses and or experience and continuing professional development.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK and 2 x references.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
