SEND children’s social worker

Seven Social Care are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Children’s Social Worker to join our team in Waltham, UK. This role involves supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), their families, and caregivers, providing essential assistance to help them thrive and achieve their potential.

Main Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with SEND to identify their individual needs, abilities, and challenges.

2. Develop, implement, and review tailored care plans which address identified needs, setting clear objectives and planned outcomes.

3. Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, including health and education professionals, to ensure that children receive cohesive care and support.

4. Advocate for the rights and needs of children with SEND and their families, providing advice, guidance, and assistance in accessing resources and services.

5. Maintain detailed, accurate records in compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

6. Provide emotional and practical support to the families of SEND children, helping them understand their child’s needs and equip them with necessary skills and resilience.

7. Liaise with appropriate agencies to ensure safeguarding concerns and risk assessments are appropriately managed.

8. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and case conferences ensuring the child’s voice is heard.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. You must be a registered Social Worker with Social Work England.

2. Previous experience in working with SEND children is essential.

3. In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004, the SEND Code of Practice, and other relevant legislation and guidance.

4. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

5. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information respectfully and ethically.

6. Committed to continuous professional development.

7. Strong organisational skills and the capability to manage a demanding workload.

8. Enhanced DBS check is required.
