Senior Adaptation Officer

Seven Social Care are looking for a Senior Adaptation Officer (Housing) to work with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. This position is paying up to £20.06 per hour. 

The Role:

Lead officer for the delivery of the Council’s disabled facilities grant programme in accordance with the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and Care Act 2014 and other relevant policy and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage a team of Adaptations Officers and the Adaptations Co-ordinator to deliver the DFG programme across the BCP geographical area
  • To work in conjunction with the Senior Technical Officer and technical team to ensure an efficient delivery of the DFG programme from point of referral to completion of works
  • Working jointly with Adult & Children’s Social Care Teams in the delivery of the Disabled Facilities Grant work. 
  • To manage the Adaptation Officers workload to deliver the provisional and formal grant application processes.
  • To approve proposed adaptation schedules and support in determining whether adaptation works requested by grant applications are eligible for assistance under the relevant legislation.  
  • To assist in giving advice and support and in some cases recommendations for schedules of works, grant repayments, reports, plans and letters in accordance with Service Unit Policies, and as directed make referrals to other agencies.
  • Escalate to the Adaptations Manager for guidance on any complex or exceptional grant applications. 
  • To assist in the administration of the Service Unit’s Web Pages and internal information systems, including access to the unit’s services via the web, in accordance with the Council’s Digital Agenda.
  • To continue to review administrative systems and procedures and recommend improvements/efficiencies.
  • To ensure vigilance in the vetting of grant and loan applications within the team with regard to fraudulent practice.
  • To maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and national policy so the best service is delivered to BCP residents.
  • To have a good working knowledge of relevant systems including MOSAIC, Ferret and Civica Flare and to ensure the team are appropriately trained to carry out their duties.
  • To comply with all decisions, policies and standing orders of the Council and any relevant statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act and Data Protection Act. 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
