Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Seven Social Care are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to work in Bath. This is working for Bath and North East Somerset Council based in NHS House Bath this position is paying £40 per hour.

The Role:

To provide a level of support and supervision to Social Workers and other relevant staff in relation to casework practice and decision making, thereby assisting the Team Manager in the day to day management of the Team.

To develop their practice skills in the Mental Health specialty, through work with complex cases training and development that will enhance supervisory and casework decision making activities.

To carry a small (protected) caseload of complex cases. If AMHP qualified you have the option to participate on the AMHP Rota. (Maximum once a month)

To prioritise, monitor and review workloads, attend meetings and ensure that resources are allocated in accordance with the relevant procedures, policies and priorities, of both AWP and B&NES Council.

Key Responsibilities:

 

      To bring to bear the highest possible standard of practice, ability and skills and to work independently within the confines of Departmental Policies and Procedures.

To undertake the more complex direct work with clients including the implementation and discharge of statutory legislative responsibilities.

To deputise for the Team Manager in their absence or as requested including the authorization of care packages and placements.

Offer practice consultation to Team members, other adult care teams and third sector care providers.

Responsible for the management of workloads of staff, casework allocation, casework supervision and ensure casework decisions are taken in accordance with agreed procedure and delegated responsibility

To monitor, review and effect staff development and training to meet Personal Development needs in accordance with agreed service plan.

To complete and present Court and Mental Health Tribunal reports To Chair Team Meetings, Best Interest, Professional, Complex Case Planning and Review meetings.as necessary.

Ensure the effective operation of referral, assessment and planning procedures within designated area of responsibility.

Contribute the operation of duty systems as appropriate.

To assist the Team Manager with the day today running of the office administration and management.

To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of both AWP and B&NES Council Policies and Procedures and of legislation and regulations set down by Central Government in respect of Mental Health Services and Adult Social Care.

To undertake regular supervision or consultation with the Manager and to ensure that the Team Manager is made aware of any issues of major importance or concerns.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: 2+ years working in a housing role with homeless clients.
  • Compliance: Up to date DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
