Senior Planning Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Senior Planning Officer to work within North Northamptonshire Council .

This position is initially for a period of 6 months and pays £32.31 (PAYE) or £42 (Umbrella) Per hour.

The role:

You will work within the Planning & Environmental Services and be responsible to the Principal Planner (Development Control) for exercising professional development control and other skills as part of the modernising of planning services focused on delivery for the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a senior member of the Development Control team, in relation to physical development proposals (particularly in respect of major schemes) or changes of use, to a variety of stakeholders including applicants, agents, members of the public, Councillors, other Council Departments and external bodies.
  • Provide advice/assistance in connection with preparation of Local Development Documents, Supplementary Planning Documents etc., including attendance at public meetings, where directed.
  • Processing own and overseeing junior officers’ applications for planning permission, Conservation Area Consent, Listed Building Consent and others.
  • Recommendation and decision stages, in accordance with National and Council approved planning policies and other material considerations.
  • Adopt a proactive Development Management approach to dealing with major applications in a project management environment with a Development Team Approach and use of Planning Performance Agreements and other project management tools.
  • Assist the Principal Planner (Development Control) in achieving continuous improvement in delivery of Development Control services through best practice, innovation and team working, in line with Best Value principles.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications: Degree or Diploma In Town Planning or other relevant qualifications.(RTPI/PICS)

Experience:  2+ years working within a similar role.

Compliance: 3 years references.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
