Senior Social Worker – LAC

Seven Social Care are seeking an experienced and highly professional Senior Social Worker to work with our Looked After Children (LAC) team in Hammersmith & Fulham. This role entails providing support and resources to children in care, ensuring their wellbeing and promoting their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To provide high-quality social work services to looked after children and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children are met, and their welfare promoted.

2. Participate in the planning, execution, and review of care plans for children in the foster care system.

3. Liaise effectively with various stakeholders including foster families, educators, healthcare professionals, and community resources to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children.

4. Offer mentorship, guidance, and supervision to other members of the LAC team.

5. Understand and interpret complex legal and policy documents relating to child welfare and interpret them to families and caregivers.

6. Provide professional advice and make judgements where necessary to the other professionals in the multidisciplinary team.

7. Regularly track, monitor, and document the actions, improvements and challenges of every child in the program.

8. Acting as a leader in implementing changes and improvements in line with legislative requirements within the social work department.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. A degree in social work and registration with Social Work England.

2. Minimum 5 years of experience in social work, preferably in the LAC department.

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.

4. Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and policy, and the ability to apply this knowledge to decision-making and case management.

5. Experience in leading and mentoring a team of social workers.

6. Significant experience of working with children on the child protection register, looked after children, and children in need.

  

7. The ability to organize time, manage workload, and meet deadlines while maintaining the quality of work.

8. A proven track record of effectively managing a complex caseload, including assessments, reviews, case planning.

The Senior Social Worker will report to the LAC department head. The position requires flexibility as it may include some evening and weekend work.
