Social Care Buyer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Social Care Buyer to work in Truro, Cornwall within the adult’s social services team for Cornwall Council. This is a full-time position, and we are paying £14.48 per hour for this role.

The role:
The purpose of the Social Care Buyer role is to work as part of the Social Care Purchasing Team (SCPT) conduct the day to day purchasing of adult social care services; sourcing care and support, prioritising and optimising capacity, preventing package breakdown, and escalating unmet demand and market fragility.
Working to the Social Care Purchasing Managers, the role holder will operate inside of the standard policies and procedures that underpin the Council’s adult social care purchasing activity for their thematic service area and use systems that support a suite of intelligence that enables leaders to assess the effectiveness of social care purchasing. Thematic service areas will include care and support at home, care homes, and working age adults. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Care Buyers are officer roles in People Services Commissioning.
  • This role will report into the Social Care Purchasing Manager and will conduct day to
    day functions required for the purchasing of social care services.
  • They will have no line management responsibilities.
  • The role holder will deliver key social care purchasing functions, prioritisation and optimisation of system-wide market capacity, day to day supplier relationship management and market sustainability at a service purchasing level.
  • The role holder will support the Strategic Lead in developing and maintaining an approach that adequately supports operational teams with access to market capacity in their thematic service area, whilst ensuring a robust service offer at place.
  • The role holder will support the Head of Purchasing, Quality and Workforce and the Strategic Lead to ensure that commissioned services provide value for money by developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and effective business systems and processes that provide access to accurate and timely directorate and system.

  • They will have the ability to analyse and present complex data.
  • They will have the excellent communication skills needed to ensure robust working relationships with service providers and other stakeholders, including service users and carers, as required.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths.
    Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Current Standard DBS check. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
