Social work assistant

Seven Resourcing are looking for a newly qualified social worker/student social worker who is looking to gain experience in a busy hospital social work team.

The role will be based in Bedford working for Bedfordshire council. This role is initially officed based then moves to remote.

This role is paying from £18 (PAYE) to £22.41 (Umbrella) Per hour.

The Role:

To work as a member of the team alongside social workers providing a first point of contact for potential customers, service providers and other agencies. You will receive, gather and provide information and advise people accordingly and also assess customer’s needs, determine eligibility for services, implement a support plan and review the plan. You will need to be able to maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as first point of contact for the Community Older People’s Social work Team as required.
  • Ensure that relevant information is obtained from customers, their families, and other agencies in respect of the needs of individuals who may need assistance from Adult Services.
  • Provide accurate information to people and to signpost people to other agencies and resources.
  • Carry out assessments and reviews, under supervision of the Senior Practitioner (appropriate to level of competence).
  • Identify a range of options available to meet the recognised needs and agree a support plan, considering current eligibility criteria, liaising with Senior Practitioner as required.
  • Ensure the support plan is implemented in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the needs of the client and their carer to ensure a positive outcome.
  • Liaise with other professionals such as GP’s and District Nurses to agree the appropriate action.
  • Manage a caseload in an effective and timely manner.
  • Attend reviews, case conferences and professionals’ meetings as required.
  • Work alone under own initiative and as part of a community-based team.
  • Keep accurate and timely records in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Use communication, reasoning, and negotiation skills to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff, customers and their carers.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications: Newly qualified social worker (or working towards)

Experience: 3 years’ experience

Compliance:  3 years references. Enhanced DBS on the update Service.

Travel:  Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours:  37 hours p/w.
