Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention

The Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention is a vital role, required to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people in the Tower Hamlets area. The role involves assessing needs, planning interventions, and delivering high-quality services that improve outcomes for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and their families using the local authority framework, following legislative requirements and departmental policy.

2. Developing, implementing, and reviewing evidence-based intervention plans based on the assessment of service users’ needs.

3. Working directly with children, young people, and their families to achieve positive and sustainable changes in their lives.

4. Collaborating effectively with partners from various sectors including education, health, and other local authority departments.

5. Providing supervision and support to less experienced social work staff members where required.

6. Preparing for and representing the local authority at court proceedings related to child care and protection.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. A Social Work England registration.

2. A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

3. Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably within a local authority setting.

4. Excellent understanding of the legal framework and current issues impacting children’s social care.

5. High levels of resilience, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to meet the complex needs of service users.

6. Strong organization and time management skills to manage caseload effectively.

7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to a range of audiences.

8. Ability to work within and contribute to a team.
