Social Worker, Children in Care/LAC Team

Seven Social Care are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Children in Care (CIC)/Looked After Children (LAC) team in Torquay. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to improving the lives and welfare of children at risk and a deep understanding of child protection procedures within the UK.

Responsibilities:

1. Carry out assessments and implement effective, evidence-based intervention plans in collaboration with multi-agency partners.

2. Prepare and present case reports for legal proceedings, child protection conferences and review meetings.

3. Maintain comprehensive and accurate case notes & records in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

4. Work closely with other professionals, including teachers, health professionals, and other social workers, to ensure the wellbeing of children.

5. Advocate for the rights of children and young people in care, ensuring that their voices and viewpoints are heard and considered.

6. Provide emotional support to children and their families, while mediating in situations of conflict and crisis.

Qualifications:

1. Hold a valid Social Work England registration.

2. Degree in social work and be eligible to work in the UK.

3. Minimum of two years’ experience working in a child protection/children in care setting.

4. Thorough knowledge of UK child protection laws, safeguarding procedures, and social care practices.

5. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and team members.

6. Ability to handle difficult situations with sensitivity, respect, and discretion.

7. Willingness to participate in continued professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in the field.

8. A valid UK driving license may be required.

For this post, the employer will expect suitable candidates to have experience within a similar setting in the UK, alongside UK references and long-term work commitments. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check and other necessary pre-employment checks.
