Social Worker – Children in Need

  • Salary: £31.46 - £31.46 per hour

Seven Social Care are looking for a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Social Worker to join our Children in Need department. This role is based in Islington, UK where you will primarily focus on helping children and their families navigate through difficult and challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities:

1. Working intensively with a small caseload of children and families to evaluate their needs, capabilities, and circumstances.

2. Implementing comprehensive care plans for children and coordinating with healthcare professionals, mental health services, schools, and other organisations when necessary.

3. Evaluating family situations through home visits, assessments, and review meetings to monitor and record the progress.

4. Advocating for resources and services to meet the client’s needs.

5. Conveying complex sensitive information to children, families, professionals, and courts.

6. Participating in team meetings and case conferences, making valuable contributions and suggesting action plans.

7. Helping children and their families understand their rights and responsibilities.

8. Ensuring the safety of children and their families, working in line with child protection procedures.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Social Work or equivalent, and registration as a Social Worker with Social Work England.

2. A minimum of two years’ experience working with children and families in a social work capacity.

3. Excellent understanding and knowledge of UK’s child protection system and relevant legislation.

4. Profound crisis management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

5. Exceptional communication, counselling, and negotiation skills.

6. Solid organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

7. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and relevant social services software.

8. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

9. Evidence of ongoing professional training and development.

Note: A clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

This job requires a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. The successful candidate must be able to travel throughout Islington and occasionally beyond.
