Social Worker – Children’s SPOC Team

Seven Resourcing are currently seeking a Social Worker to work for the Children’s SPOC Team within Neath Port Talbot Council. 37 hours a week paying £38 p/h.

Main Purpose of the Post: 

To provide a high quality, professional social work service to children in need of care and support, children in need of protection, looked after children (and care leavers where relevant) and their families in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures of the Council and best practice.

Main Duties:

1.        Contacts and Referrals

(i)        Develop and maintain joint working arrangements with other professionals and agencies.

(ii)       Support the Single Point of Contact with providing professionals and members of the public with advice and information.

2.        Assessment

(i)        Undertake assessments of need for care and support with children and their families.

(ii)       Undertake assessments of need in accordance with the   principles for assessment outlined in parts 3 and 4 of the Social  Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.

3.        Planning

(i)        Undertake personal outcome plans.

(ii)       Identify and arrange interventions necessary to meet needs and desired outcomes.

(iii)      Attend meetings, including initial case conferences, strategy meetings and initial core group.

(iv)      Initiate appropriate action to protect service users at risk.

4.        Monitoring and Review

(i)        Review care plans at pre-determined dates

(ii)       Undertake statutory visits to Looked After Children.

(iii)      Undertake safeguarding checks and visits

(iv)      Undertake direct work with children and young people

5.        Partnership

(i)        Ensure that all work is undertaken in the spirit of partnership with children, young people and their families.

(ii)       Work with partner agencies in the process of assessment, planning and review for those children in receipt of the service.

6.        Administration & Personal Effectiveness

(i)        Maintain accurate and up-to-date records that give a full explanation of decisions taken.

(ii)       Complete required documentation within relevant timescales and comply with care management standards.

(iii)      Manage time and prioritise work demands.

(iv)      Contribute to the development of the team and people’s learning, including taking responsibility for personal continuous professional development.

(v)       Participate in Supervision, Appraisal and Team Meetings.
