Supervising Technician

Seven Resourcing are working with a Wakefield Local Authority to recruit a Supervising Technician on a long-term contract. The successful candidate will work alongside the Workshop Manager in ensuring the economical and efficient repair and maintenance of a diverse range of Council owned vehicles. The pay rate is £18.53 PAYE and is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

 Contribute actively in the overall management of Transport Services Unit.

Take responsibility for specific projects or ongoing areas of work within the Transport Services Unit, where appropriate leading small teams.

Oversee the organisation and implementation of technical work programmes and activities with particular emphasis on operational initiatives.

Establish effective working relationships with senior officers of other departments to enable Transport Service to play a full and effective role in the corporate working of the authority so that Council objectives can be achieved.

Meet the public and representatives of other Services and contractors as necessary and provide appropriate information on request.

Participate in the team working approach to the allocation of duties within Transport Services, where necessary leading small teams.

Adhere to and apply legislation, Council standing orders, constitution, and procedures as appropriate.

Apply all appropriate health and safety procedures relevant to the Transport Service and communicate and advise where necessary other staff of their responsibilities in this area and to report any concerns immediately.

Ensure all staff appraisals are undertaken within the remit of responsibility for the post.

Ensure that all aspects of work within the sphere of control of this post are carried out in accordance with the Council’s Customer Care and Equal Opportunities policies.

Applicant Requirements:

 Qualifications: Post apprentice experience in Large Goods Vehicle, Light Goods or Horticultural Machinery / City and Guilds level 1 and 2 or NVQ level 3 in a motor vehicle engineering or equivalent trade.

Experience: 2 years + working within similar role.

Travel: Clean UK driving licence.

Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK.
