SWIS Social Workers in Schools

  • Location: Wolverhampton, England
  • Salary: £30.57 - £30.57 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Social Care is looking for a SWIS Social Workers in Schools in Wolverhampton

The role:

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to be part of the Social Workers in Schools [SWIS] programme.

This is an opportunity to be part of the Social Workers in Schools [SWIS] Scale-up programme funded by the DfE from September 2021 – March 2022.

This programme is an extension of the work that began with three pilots in Lambeth, Southampton and Stockport in 2019.  This second phase is to scale-up the programme and complete a rigorous evaluation of the impact of placing social workers in schools to improve the outcomes for young people.

The Social Workers in Schools programme aims to embed social workers in secondary schools to reduce referral rates to children’s social care and reduce the numbers of Section 17 or Section 47 investigations, along with the overarching aim of reducing the number of children in care and improving educational attainment. It is hoped that this will also promote better inter-agency working between schools and the children’s social care system.

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker with sound knowledge of undertaking statutory social work with children and families. The successful candidate will be committed to the Councils Restorative Approach and working with social workers and their families to help improve outcomes for children and keep them safe from significant harm.

The successful candidate will also be committed to being part of the SWIS programme and will also work with staff in schools to develop a deeper understanding of safeguarding and child protection and forge and embed co-working between agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The successful social worker will be attached to an identified secondary school and will be based within their identified school.

The social worker will continue to focus on discharging their statutory duties to children and young people and they will hold responsibility for children and young people who attend the school where they are based.
