Team Manager – Children’s Safeguarding Team

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Team Manager to work in the children and families safeguarding team based in Tiverton, Devon. This is a full time position (37 Hours Per Week) and is paying £48 per hour + £150 Per Week accommodation allowance. This is a hybrid working role in which your home working can be discussed on interview.

The role:

  • Have direct management responsibility for a team of Academy staff including those delivering direct training and development, as well as support functions
  • Ensure provision of professional leadership and supervision and appraisal of staff, working in partnership with other stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the performance of the team, promoting good practice and continual professional development within their team
  • Support the Service Manager to deliver a comprehensive and clear workforce development programme for Children and families, aligned with the Workforce Development strategic plan, in line with the Council and directorate priorities.
  • Manage and deliver professional development schemes and learning programmes to support the restorative practice framework and embed Motivational Interviewing as a core practice skill.
  • Define and deliver a structured Continuous professional development offer for qualified staff that also responds to evolving local priorities.
  • Forecast trends in staffing profiles, and plan pro-actively to ensure a succession plan of newly qualified staff, as well as pathways for alternatively qualified staff and aspiring leaders.
  • Provide quality assurance of the workforce development plan, and support and challenge others to provide a high-quality service.
  • Undertake evidence-based analysis of the workforce development plan, to create a culture of continuous improvement and development, and report this to the Service Manager in a quarterly analysis
  • Lead training and development sessions where required and write content for them to create a sustainable library of training materials.
  • Promote digital learning platforms and resources, and promote and monitor their usage to ensure best value and impact 2
  • Develop partnerships with Educational and research organisations that support strategic objectives such as local Universities, Front-line and Research in Practice.
  • Model values and behaviours to help to achieve our ambition to become a restorative and child friendly county. 
  • Co-author a quarterly report with the Service Manager to present to the Head of Service reviewing key achievements and areas for development that can be shared with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Keep children safe through provision of learning and development opportunities that support research informed best practice in core and specialist areas, working in partnership with the Devon Children & Families Partnership and Principal Social Worker to ensure co-ordination of the offer.
  • Support the active involvement of children and young people and families in how learning and development in Children and Families Services are delivered and how they contribute to the ambitions of the Council, ensuring that children and young people have a voice, and their views are heard.
  • Lead and drive on service improvement which ensures that the service works effectively, innovatively, and collaboratively across the wider service and its partners.
  • Make a significant contribution to deliver ‘good’ or equivalent outcomes from external inspections, reviews and assessments
  • Contribute to the leadership and management of service performance and quality assurance to ensure continuous improvement, including dissemination of key learning from quality assurance work.
  • The postholder needs to have excellent working knowledge of the legal and statutory framework underpinning Social Care and the legal and statutory requirements for the workforce. Alternative professional qualifications to Social Work, including clinical backgrounds, are eligible for this post.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work.
  • Experience: 2+ years working with children as a qualified Social Worker in the UK.
  • Compliance: Up to date SWE registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
