Team Manager – Waste Contracts and Haulage

  • Location: Glenfield, England
  • Salary: £0 - £0 per annum
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Team Manager for Waste Contracts and Haulage within Leicestershire County Council. This is a full time role paying £28.81 p/h.

The current role has two distinct areas to it:-

Management of the waste treatment recycling and composting contracts for the 300,000 tonnes of waste we receive each year

from the 7 Districts in the County area and our 14 HWRCs.

Direct Operation of the Bardon waste Transfer Station, maintenance of our mobile plant (loading shovels etc.) across four sites and our small fleet of 32 tonne Ro-ro Haulage vehicles.

Note a O-licence is not required as this picked up centrally for the authority. However, a good understanding of the need for compliance (vehicle checks/servicing/ no overloading/driver hours and so on)

is necessary. This is seven day a week service 6am to 6pm. The likely candidate would eb expected to attend Bardon on one or more (subject to need) days each week.

I am not necessarily expecting to get a candidate with strong experience in both of these areas but one or the other could work. The split in teams (work areas) in the attached chart could align to that.

In either role a valid relevant waste COTC would be helpful but not essential. WAMITAB Level 4 High Risk Operator Competence for Managing Transfer of Hazardous Waste (601/8504/1)

Home working and/or County Hall based in the main. We can be flexible on hours as well as consider part time as well as full time roles. We are intending to recruit on a permanent basis. But nonetheless would envisage a handover period or extension option for the

right candidate to deal with the increasing volume of work/service changes/efficiencies on the horizon. Waste has its own specific regulatory framework so knowledge of waste would be a distinct advantage.

In terms of selection process, I am reviewing Cvs provided. Suitable candidates will then be offered an interview via teams with questions asked by myself and a colleague along the opportunity to discuss the role etc. with the candidate.

Whilst having operational experience the elements it’d be useful to have HGV haulage operational experience, as that is the main operational aspect.

As the operational side is covering the Bardon Waste Transfer Station and our directly operated fleet of ten roll-on roll-off vehicles.

Also, the waste contract side in terms of managing (contract management etc.) relevant to recycling, haulage and treatment contracts. These are quite high value contracts (20 million) so the linked budget management aspect is important too.
