Technical Security Lead

Seven Resourcing are looking for an interim Technical Security Lead to work in Guisborough. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £19.47 (PAYE) and £24.32 (Umbrella). The role is full-time and will involve working from Monday – Friday (9am-5pm).

The role:

The core focus of the Information Security Lead (ISL) is to spearhead and manage the security of the Councils IT service including governance, policy, process and performance. Provide technical security expertise to the Council to ensure maximum benefit from its investment in technology whilst maintaining a secure environment. Lead on the development and implementation of the Cyber Security Strategy and the Cyber Response Plan. Manage the Councils’ development and maintenance of various compliance regimes including PSN, PCI-DSS, NHS DSP Toolkit etc. As the lead advocate of IT security, the ISL will work with multiple business services and effectively manage their expectations and establish robust working practices in the secure use of technology and data. Ensuring adequate organisational training is in place to maintain user level awareness of their role in keeping IT assets secure.

Key Responsibilities:

      Provide Cyber/Information Security leadership to the organisation to help mature the Councils’ security profile and continue to develop best practice.

Define Cyber/Information Security principles, standards and governance.

Lead the continuous analysis of current Cyber/Information security arrangements and where deficiencies are detected recommend improvements and remedial actions.

Manage the creation, development, maintenance and monitoring of security policies and standards relating to IT matters

Act as point of escalation for all potential security issues, undertaking investigation where necessary.

Ensure that the Information Security Management System (ISMS) is maintained and updated to include all applicable policies, standards & regulation and communicated appropriately to all staff to ensure continued ISO 27001 compliance

Day to day monitoring of the security aspects of any hosting outsource contract/relationship, ensuring all security services are delivered within the agreed SLA’s, quality and within the ITIL framework

Ensure all security systems and services are being effectively and responsively monitored

Attend disciplinary panels as the Councils’ expert witness in regards to information technology breaches

To take the lead role as senior IT Security advisor, attending internal and external meetings with stakeholders as appropriate.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in ICT, Cyber Security or a related field; or the equivalent in education and work experience.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in the field of Information Security. Experience of developing and maintaining an ISMS.
  • Compliance: Basic DBS check and 2 x references.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
