Trading Standards Officer

Seven Resourcing is working with Nottinghamshire County Council to recruit a Trading Standards Officer.

This is Full-time Monday – Friday 9 – 5 for an initial 3 month contract with the potential of extending.

£15.36 per hour is the pay rate offered.

Job Purpose:

To contribute to the Service’s provision of effective enforcement action and support to local consumers and businesses to give Nottinghamshire a better trading environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic team player to join our dynamic Trading Standards Service to help shape and drive our service forward.

The role will support key work to protect local communities from fraudulent trading practices, such as doorstep crime, car clocking and scams.

Nottinghamshire Trading Standards enjoys high levels of recognition locally, regionally, and nationally, and are proud to host the National Trading Standards Regional Investigations Team for the East Midlands.

We are at the forefront in developing the role played by Trading Standards, combining a range of innovative, problem solving approaches to protecting our communities, including major investigations and scams work, with a dedicated commercial team focussed on providing support to a large and growing number of businesses.

You will have substantial proven experience of working in an investigatory enforcement role and have the associated comprehensive knowledge of legal procedural legislation etc.

You must also demonstrate knowledge of legislation relating to fraud, conspiracy, aiding and abetting, Proceeds of Crime Act, criminal attempts and related offences.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of procedural legislation governing

    criminal investigation including: CPIA 1996, CJA 2003, RIPA

    2000, PACE 1984, Human Rights Act 1998, rules of evidence

    etc.

    2. Knowledge of legislation relating to fraud, conspiracy, aiding and

    abetting, POCA, criminal attempts and related offences.

    3. Hold a valid UK driving licence (A taxi service is available for a

    disabled employee)

    4. An understanding of the need for and the aims of a modern

    Trading Standards Service and the current challenges facing

    service delivery.

    5. Knowledge and understanding of the application of workplace

    Health & Safety legislation.

  • Experience: 15. Substantial proven experience of working in an investigatory role

    and investigating a range of complex criminal offences.

    16. Proven ability to handle, manage and record intelligence.

    17. Proven ability to interpret and apply complex legislation and

    similar documents.

    18. Proven ability to investigate offences, prepare concise accurate

    information reports and give evidence in court proceedings.

    19. Proven ability to advise businesses on complex legal

    requirements.

    20. Experience of effective partnership working.

  • Compliance: Up to date Passport.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
