Transport Officer

Seven Resourcing is working with Paula Murray at Leicestershire County Council to recruit a Transport Officer to work within their Environment and Transport Department.

Pay is between £14.29 – £15.85 per hour dependent on experience. This is paid via umbrella company.

This role will be split between home based / County Hall

There is a need for this individual to be flexible, organised and support the flow of management information, skills in ICT and dealing with customer enquiries.

Job Purpose:

To assist in the effective, efficient and legally compliant delivery of passenger transport services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure that the services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire.

To maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues within the team and across the service.

To ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner as possible. Service Responsibilities

To ensure the effective and efficient planning and procurement of passenger transport services both manually and using available ICT systems.

Deliver a programme of efficiency reviews of other aspects of the service, including the purchase of season tickets and the provision of transport for ‘fare paying’ passengers.

Assist with liaison and notification of current standards with/to in-house fleet management and to external contractors.

Ensure vehicles are properly licensed and insured appropriately by the contractor, maintaining administrative procedures as appropriate

To assist with the provision of training courses for Clients, Contractor, Private Hire Operators and internal staff as required.

To co-ordinate inspections of contract time-keeping, contract operation and other matters relevant to the County’s duties in respect of passenger transport.

Maintain up to date and accurate records, including control and maintenance of the Transport Databases and all Transport related manual systems and the provision of timely and accurate Management Information.

To assist in developing/maintaining business processes.

To assist in the effective organisation of transport activities and vehicles, including the planning of the annual review and re-allocation of school transport in the period leading up to each autumn term as required

To assist in the development and collection of data and statistics relating to all passenger services

To communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and service users and their representatives when required, written and verbally, including complaints.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience: Using of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and other MS Office applications to a high standard
  • Analysis of loading and/or statistical information
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • Working in a transport procurement environment
  • Collecting, collating and manipulating statistical information
  • Using databases and spreadsheets to produce reports
  • Dealing with members of the public by telephone including difficult conversations
  • Co-ordination and ensuring efficient organisation of transport services
  • Negotiation with external contractors
  • Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
