Tree And Woodland Officer – Ash Die Back Support (Facilities and Environmental Services)

Derbyshire County Council Countryside Service is looking an individual to join the Trees and Woodlands Team for up to 6 months to provide technical expertise and support a project for the identification and management of ash dieback across the County road network and Council land and property assets.

This is a fulltime role, paying £20.66 p/h.

Skills & Experience

  • Tree survey experience, including experience in risk assessing trees and identifying tree pests and diseases.
  • Woodland management experience.
  • Experience in making felling licence applications; writing woodland management plans; and/or writing tree reports.
  • Experience in writing specifications for tree/woodland management related contracts and tenders.
  • Contractor supervision experience.
  • Experience in identifying funding sources and contributing to applications.
  • Ability to communicate with different stakeholders, such as landowners and members of the public.
  • Project management or support experience.
  • Experience in working towards and reporting on targets and KPIs.
  • Experience in using GIS.

Qualifications

  • Further/higher education qualification in arboriculture, forestry, landscape design, landscape/countryside management, ecology or similar OR equivalent experience and evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
