Vehicle Inspector

Seven Social Care are currently looking for a Vehicle Inspector to start work with Leeds City Council. This role will be with the Taxi and Private Hire Licensing team and is a full time role paying £18.35 per hour via PAYE.

As a Vehicle Inspector, you will be working in a team responsible for the licensing, inspection and supervision of taxis and private hire drivers and their vehicles. 

Responsibilities:

      Carry out full inspections and Re-inspections based around the DVSA MOT tests and Council’s current vehicle conditions.

Maintain appropriate electronic and manual records on inspections carried out, notices and inspection reports as may be required.

Provide clear, concise and comprehensive feedback following vehicle inspections to customers in a sensitive, effective and engaging manner.

Carry out PSV and permit 19 vehicle tests.

Check and monitor permitted and contracted vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance with Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Specification and Conditions, and where applicable, the Council’s Permit system.

Maintain appropriate electronic and manual records on tests carried out and notices and inspection reports as may be required.

Maintain a safe working environment in the garage and workshop areas at all times

Applicant Requirements:

Experience: Experience for at least 3 years in repairing and servicing motor vehicles. 

Qualifications: 3-5 years experience required and hold recognised training.  

Compliance: Current enhanced DBS, right to work in the UK, and hold a full UK driving licence.

Hours : 37 hours a week, 5 days a week.
