Youth Homelessness Social Worker

Seven Social Care is working with Birmingham Children’s Trust to recruit for a Youth Homelessness Social Worker for the Homelessness Team based in Central Birmingham.

Pay is between £27.53 – £29.93 per hour.

This is an Maternity Cover post for 12 months, so please DO NOT APPLY if you want a “permanent” job. However there are more Youth Offending roles within the trust on a regular basis so you can potentially be transitioned into another role after the initial 12 months.

Job Purpose:

To safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people in the City through the delivery of high quality services.

In Birmingham, we have a multi-agency response to working with 16 and 17-year-olds at risk of homelessness in the city. We have a small, specialist, supportive and dedicated team of social workers who work in partnership with the housing department and voluntary sector to prevent and address homelessness for young people in Birmingham.

We are looking to recruit a social worker who is passionate about safeguarding and supporting young people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness, have suffered abuse and neglect, and are at risk of exploitation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To be responsible for a caseload of children and young people ensuring legislative requirements are met.

To collect, accurately record, using management information systems, and critically analyse all relevant information and take appropriate actions to fulfil statutory responsibilities to promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of the child/young people.

To ensure the well-being and safety of the child/young person is paramount through analysing all necessary information to complete assessments that comply with statutory requirements.

To create and plan for children in need of protection and children in care involving multi agency partners according to need.

To implement, monitor and review within multi-agency meetings, children’s plans to ensure needs are being met.

Ensure that meetings are proactive and timely; and meet the child’s/young person’s needs, wishes and feelings.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: 2+ years working with children as a qualified Social Worker in the UK.
  • Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 35 hours p/w.
